I always thought that when I was a mom I would do it all and be it all. Through my years at BYU-I while taking a plethora of marriage and family classes I came to understand that you CAN "have it all" but NOT all at the same time. As I was blog surfing today, I stumbled across this rather interesting article written by a feminist atheist who is addicted to reading Mormon housewife blogs. Are you interested? Well, you really should be. It was quite the read and you might be surprised to know that it is a rather positive article and I found some new blogs to follow, always a plus in my book!
I have always appreciated an organized space and while pregnant I was very OCD about everything being just so. Now judge me if you must, but when living in 750 SqFt you must be overly organized. A stray pillow or wandering bowl will make the house look like a disaster! Since entering the reality of being a stay-at-home mom I have found the secret, I think. It's not necessarily the lack of time, or the endless list of to-do's that keeps mom's from getting things done or put away. Its simple just no longer that important. Now I'm sure my husband our good friends jaw would drop and me saying that, but yes I do mean it.
I realized that my time is better spent singing sweet lullaby's to my little ones and enjoying every new movement and every tender sigh and those small but very squishy cheeks. She probably wont remember that I didn't tidy up the breakfast dishes until lunch but I hope she remember the time I spent reading to her and teaching her nursery rhymes and primary songs, just like my mom did with me.
Life is something to be celebrated and I'm glad these mormon mommy bloggers are so positive about what they do.
