Romantic Get-A-Way

A few weeks ago Brent surprised me with a little get-a-way to Sedona, just the two of us. He secretly planned the whole thing and even got my parents to watch Miss Vieve for the night. We had a great room with the most comfortable bed and a spa treatment the next day. it was absolutely wonderful! It was so strange not seeing our baby for 24 hours, but it was so nice to be with each other.

Birthday Party for Miss Genivieve

We had a little party for Miss Vieve on her actually birthday. It is hard to have a party right after Christmas and New Years, but I'm sure we will get better at preparing for it. It was a special day to celebrate having her in our family for an entire year. She is so sweet and fun. We are so lucky to have this little piece of heaven with us.

Her 1st Cabbage Patch baby. My favorite toy growing up and she LOVES her baby!
Already a good Mommy, trying to play with cousin Autumn

Thank you so much to everyone who came on such short notice. Genivieve is so loved, it was fun to have other join in the celebration! Next year I'll be better at taking pictures and knowing how to throw a kids birthday party. It was a learning year.

From baby to Toddler

I can not believe a year has already gone by. I feel like it was just last week that they put my sweet baby on my chest and I gave her the first of many kisses. These memories are still so tender. Brent and I have been so abundantly blessed with a beautiful, healthy and adorable child. We are so thrilled so be her parents.  We have spent the last week reminiscing, it is so unfair how fast time goes by when you have a baby. Each night we look at her newborn pictures all of the videos and just melt over our adorable baby.

On her first birthday she is 17 pounds and 29 1/2 inches long.
  •  says "mama", "dada" "hi" and chatters long sentences we can't wait to understand.
  • changes what she likes to each on a daily basis
  • like to feed herself but will still allow me to feed her.
  • she loves pasta with any sauce.
  • wears 9 month clothes but moving into 12 month clothes
  • Loves to play with her kitchen and play food
  • still loves to look at books and listen to stories
  • sleeps 12 hours at night and taking 2 naps a day (the first is 2-3 hours the second is 30 min-1.5 hours)
  • waves "hi" but doesn't know"bye"(I don't want her to get sad we we leave and people say bye)
  • still nursing, working on weaning. still has her "plug/pacifier" in the car and bed.
Genivieve took her first steps January 4th. She loves her new stroller and baby she got for her birthday. She is so determined to play with her stroller she worked all day and by that evening she was walking.the stroller doesn't support her weight the the walker/car but she loves her stroller so much she can balance and push it much to her delight! I love that she loves her baby, hugs it and plays with is so well. She is going to be such a good helper one day when she is a big sister.

1st Christmas

Christmas this year was wonderful, having children around makes is so special but having one of our own sure takes the cake! Christmas eve was miserable for me, I think I overloaded on greasy fried food. Since I don't have a gallbladder I spent all afternoon and into Christmas morning emptying my stomach. Like I said, it was miserable. Just looking at my stocking candy made we want to die.

In spite of my condition I made my way to the couch Christmas morning to watch Miss Vieve enjoy the magic. She loved her kitchen and food and we loved watching her. Brent and I really should get in on some of tpictures, she is going to wonder what we looked like.

I procrastinated buying her Christmas dress thinking she might grow and I didn't want her to outgrow it. Silly me, this girl is far for topping the weight chart. When Dec. 23 rolled around I was frantically looking for a cute outfit. While we were out I stumbled on the skirt, shirt and hat and it was perfect. I love how Vieve looks like a little French girl with her holiday beret.
